Pay less for internet and TV
Internet bills often creep up when a promo price ends or new fees appear. These steps help you see what you’re really paying and whether a lower-cost plan fits your home.

5 ways to lower your internet bill
Read the broadband label
FCC rules require internet providers to show a broadband label for each plan when you shop. It lists the monthly price, how long any intro price lasts, one-time and monthly fees, data limits and typical speeds. Put two labels side by side before you switch.

Know when your promo ends
Check your bill or online account for the date your introductory rate ends, and set a reminder a few weeks ahead. That’s a good moment to ask about current plans or compare other providers.
Match speed to how you use it
Count how many people stream, game or work from home at the same time. If your plan is much faster than your household needs, a lower speed tier may cost less and still work fine.
Look at equipment and TV extras
Rented modems, routers, TV boxes and channel packages add up. Ask whether you can use your own compatible equipment, and drop extras nobody watches.
Check low-cost programs
If you get SNAP, Medicaid, SSI or federal housing help, or meet income limits, the federal Lifeline program takes up to $9.25 a month off qualifying internet or bundled service (one per household). Xfinity’s Internet Essentials offers low-cost plans to eligible households.

Compare internet plans at your address
Availability and prices depend on your address. Check the broadband label for any plan before you sign up.

Common questions
Will switching internet providers save me money?
Sometimes. Compare the full monthly price after any promo ends, plus equipment and other fees, not just the first-year price. The broadband label shows all of these.
Can I lower my bill without switching?
Often, yes. You can ask your provider which plans are available at your address, move to a lower speed tier, or drop rented equipment and TV extras you don’t use.
Who qualifies for Lifeline?
Households at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines, or where someone gets SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance or the Veterans Pension benefit. Apply at LifelineSupport.org. It’s one benefit per household, and you recertify each year.
